THE "ELSA SILVESTRI" ARCHAEOLOGICAL
AND PALAEO- ENVIRONMENTAL MUSEUM

The museum shows the growing relationship which evolved between man and his environment through the centuries, the changes in the developement of settlements, economic activities, everyday life and funeral rites of the civilisations which inhabited the area from palaeolithic times to the Middle Ages.
Amongst the exhibits you can see several fighting and hunting weapons excavated on the important early Bronze Age site found at Trebbo Sei Vie (Budrio). The exhibits of funeral urns, jewelry and utensils in the museum coming from the Castenaso area, are evidence of the Villanovan Civilisation. There is a comprehensive, well designed archeological section dedicated to the Roman period while the glass cases containing a selection of medieval pots and vases concludes your visit. During local fetes and festivals you can watch the spinning and weaving processes of hemp in the tower dedicated to the story of this fibre which is also a section of the archeological museum.
